On November 11, a delegation led by Shahzad Ahmad Khan, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Shanghai, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Vice President Liu Weidong met with the delegation at the Minhang Campus. Also present at the meeting were Yin Shan, Associate Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology, along with representatives from relevant departments and faculty members.

Vice President Liu Weidong extended a warm welcome to Consul General Khan and his delegation, and reviewed the enduring and profound friendship between China and Pakistan over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He emphasized that SJTU has been actively engaged in strategic cooperation between the two countries in cultural exchanges, economic development, and technological innovation, contributing the university’s strength to consolidating bilateral relations.

Consul General Shahzad Ahmad Khan introduced the current status and cooperation needs of Pakistan in the process of agricultural modernization. Muhammad Atif, Deputy Consul General, provided a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s developments in the application of smart agriculture technologies and green agriculture, expressing the expectation to deepen practical collaboration in areas such as agricultural technology transfer, industrial cooperation, and research incubation.

Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on further advancing cooperation between China and Pakistan in education, technology, agriculture, and other fields. Yin Shan systematically introduced the School’s progress in research planning and cutting-edge achievements. Faculty representatives shared their research work in areas such as intelligent planting control, cold-chain logistics preservation, and green agricultural technologies. The two sides reached multiple consensuses on specific topics, including joint research project applications, academic exchanges and visits, and the establishment of university-industry cooperation platforms.
