On November 6, 2025, Professor Alejandro Delgado Castro, Vice President of the University of Havana, Cuba, visited the School of Agriculture and Biology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The meeting was attended by Yin Shan, Associate Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology, Hui Nan, Director of the Department of Resources and Environment, faculty representative Liu Xinxin, as well as relevant officials from the Academic Affairs Office and the Cooperation and Exchange Office.

On behalf of the School, Yin Shan extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Havana. He emphasized the broad potential for collaboration between the two institutions in areas such as sustainable development and agricultural technology, expressing hope to further deepen cooperation on the existing foundation. Wang Zhihao from the Cooperation and Exchange Office provided an overview of the development history, disciplinary strengths, and international cooperation profile of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the School of Agriculture and Biology.

Alejandro Delgado Castro expressed his gratitude and elaborated on the research strengths and educational characteristics of the University of Havana. He noted the high degree of alignment between the two universities in research directions and disciplinary development, proposing joint efforts to advance international research projects and initiate discussions on a cooperation agreement to establish a solid foundation for long-term collaboration.

This visit serves as an important follow-up to the overseas study program conducted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University's "Global Challenge Program" student delegation at the University of Havana during the summer of 2025. Prior to this, students from the university carried out a week-long research project in Cuba focusing on green ecology and related topics, achieving positive outcomes. The current exchange marks a new phase of collaboration between the two institutions.
